Well recently I left Shaw Cable and switch to solely ADSL. I've had both for quite a while and only this Linux box was sitting on the ADSL connection. So I decided I no longer required Shaws SOHO (5 ips), and I've moved everything over to one network (ADSL). Now this should sound easy, and in practice it is easy. They supply two IPs so I decided to have one workstation in the open, and of course this server. The server now has two NICs and also doubles as a router / firewall.

But somewhere I got shafted in the luck department. Apartently for the last 2 years Telus has had a known issue with their network. It is possible to have two computers within one house that get their ips from different gateways. And somewhere in their setup because of this the computers can't recognize, or even ping each other! But according to Telus they only support one computer and it's in the agreement so there not going to fix it. So now I have one workstation with two NICs, in two networks existing in one room, just to browse my website or contact my mail server. Someone at Telus should be shot! But I love the speed and super slow latency.

Well I've taken the last two months off of the website. I've sort of been in a physical reform, and now I'm moving back into the academic realm. I'm back at Camosun again taking two classes, and working on the side. I'm also going to be doing more posts on here, I just posted an article about movie playback. I've also got my hands on some new hardware to review, so stay tuned.
