I'm sure by now a good portion of you are using Firefox, if not I'd suggest installing it now. Todays article is how to throw your Firefox into hyperdrive. You'll find Firefox is extreme configurable and moddable. This can be done by Extensions, Themes or within the configuration options.
To enter the configuration menu in the address bar type "about:config". Next you'll see a screen full of different options you can change. However were only interested in changing 3 options. Firstly
"network.http.pipelining" should be true. Secondly
"network.http.proxy.pipelining" should be true. And lastly change "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to 30. Now restart your browser.
Alrighty just found another good tweak to add, in the about:config screen right click and then do New -> Integer. Now type in nglayout.initialpaint.delay and set the value to 0. This will remove the delay before it starts displaying the website.
Now when you use Firefox the browser will connect up to a site with up to 30 connections, with no delays. You'll find a huge difference in how fast your websites load, especially with all the cross site marketing most sites use now. This tweak is mainly for users on high speed internet (ie 150k/s down stream). If your using a dialup modem, I would try between 2 - 4 pipelines, I'de really like to hear from any users that try this on a dialup. And for you skeptics I have received several emails thanking me for their new found browsing speeds.
