Whenever a new product comes out, there is generally going to be some bugs to work out. Coders aren't perfect, in fact the amount of bugs in most software would floor you. Internet Explorer for example has around 30 known bugs, most of which are security bugs. Firefox has been no different, however the difference between FireFox and Internet Explorer is the amount of time it takes for the Mozilla Foundation to plug these security holes.
Recently one of my friends was complaining about being hacked because of the fact he was using FireFox. This really puzzled me because FireFox is one of the most Secure Web Browsers I've used. At the point when he was hacked, FireFox Version 1.0.4 had just been released. The version he had been running was 1.0.1, 3 versions old and 15 security updates later (mainly based around JavaScript).
So the purpose of this article will be to teach you about FireFox updates. FireFox actually goes out of it's way to notify you about updates. Not only that but when it releases fixed versions, it doesn't simply release a patch, but an entire new version. So unlike Internet Explorer not only do you get the security patch, you also get whatever new features they've added into Mozilla Gecko Engine. To tell you when theres a new update waiting simply look above your Smart Search Bar, for an arrow pointing up. If the arrow is blue you have non critical update(s) waiting (ie updated Extensions), if the arrow is Red you have a critical update waiting.

So with this in mind make sure you stay on top of your updates. A Secure internet provides everyone with a better Internet Experience. The last thing you want is your box to be 0wn3d by some 31337 (Elite) hacker, which now spews forth 1000s of spam emails an hour. By simply staying on top of your updates (within a few days), this will greatly help your battle for Internet Survival.
